After four seasons as a Pittsburgh Panther, linebacker Cam Bright has entered the transfer portal. Bright announced on Twitter around noon today that he was thankful for the years of memories and relationships from Pitt that will last a lifetime but he is excited for his new life chapter.
Bright was not necessarily expected to return to Pitt in 2022, but most believed he would be drafted, and that his next chapter would be the NFL. Instead, Bright will enter the portal, following wide receiver, and former Pitt teammate, Shocky Jacques-Louis, who announced the same on Saturday.

Cam Bright got
some playing time as a freshman in 2018 when he recorded eight tackles and a sack. He then followed that up with an outstanding
sophomore year, totaling 40 solo tackles, nine of them for loss. Bright continued to be an impact player for
the Panther defense with 4.5 and 3.5 sacks in his junior and senior seasons
respectively. Bright ends his Panther
career with 23.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks.
Bright will
certainly be missed. He ranked 6th
on the team in tackles in 2021, and beyond that was a team captain. This is a tough loss for the
Panthers who have been largely successful with transfers this offseason,
acquiring quarterback Kedon Slovis in December and gaining a commitment from
highly coveted wide receiver Konata Mumpfield just yesterday afternoon.
